Author Visit - Story Telling Session

Apple Sophia Lim is a children's book author and a mother of two beautiful girls. She has self-published four picture books and is still creating more books! Her work includes Make a Wish for a Unicorn, Make a Wish for a Dinosaur, Make a Wish for an Elephant, Witch's trouble and The life of Buddha for Beginners.

At 39 years old, she decided to be a full time author and quitted her job that she have been at for the past ten years. Her goal is to create fun books to make children laugh and to make parents enjoy reading to their children as well. Program Outline:

• Opening: Introduction and icebreaker activities (5 mins)
• Topic: Aspiration and explanation about Author (10 mins)
• Storytelling session - 1 Book-Choose from an option (20mins)
• 14 pages of activity worksheets
• Hands-on Workshop: Students create their own Make a wish mini 4 page book (15 mins)
  
• Closing: Q&A Session (10mins)

Scope of services of Instructor

• To conduct storytelling sessions for Primary 1 and Primary 2 students based on a published book the instructor created.
• Each book will convey a moral value that students can learn about.
• The session will include telling the students how the storylines were conceived, teaching students how to tell their stories in a fun manner as well as effectiveness so as to convey the thoughts and feelings of the characters.

Students will bring home:

• 14 pages of activity worksheets
• Temporary Tattoos from book character (by answering questions)
• Character stickers (by answering questions)
• A Copy of their own Make a wish mini 4 page book
• Students are able to create their own mini story and share in different forms (e.g. writing, drawing)
